Traditional Mission Life Day

Join the costumed docents and staff for an opportunity to observe and participate in the craft activities that supplied the needs of the mission residents. Demonstrated crafts may include: tortilla making, candle making, soap making, spinning and weaving, carpentry, pottery, and blacksmithing.

chumash culture Day

at La Purisima Mission, the Tule Village comes to life as visitors experience the blending of traditional Chumash Indian and Colonial Spanish culture. Visitors engage in activities and stories from a Chumash Native.

Mountain men

March 23, 2024

August 23-24, 2024

10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Buckskin clad members of the American Mountain Men share mountain men history and skills. Cooking, hide preparation and tanning, leather working, rope making, and blacksmithing are among the skills that visitors may experience. Equipment will be on display and tall tales will surround the campfire.

On an escorted walking tour by candlelight, guests travel back in time to the 1820s, moving from scene to scene enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of the evening at La Purísima Mission. The scenes are sometimes poignant, sometimes humorous and always entertaining.

WINTER CONCERT December 7th, 2024 - 7:00 p.m.

Featuring the Cabrillo High School Madrigal Singers.

Lanterns lead the way to enjoy an evening of candlelight. The Madrigals will be performing seasonal music and afterwards, guests are invited to join us at La Sala for refreshments.

LAS POSADAS TBD -2024

Join costumed docents as they lead Las Posadas procession though the mission grounds with songs in Spanish and English. The tradition dates back over 400 years in Mexico and reenacts the biblical journey of Mary and Joseph seeking shelter in Bethlehem.

This free event is open to the public and we invite you to celebrate afterwards with refreshments in La Sala. Celebrate with us in festive attire!
